Having read and very much enjoyed the first book of this series, The Calgary Chessman, I dived into this expecting to be just as engrossed. And I was, in parts. I loved the portrayal of Cas' reaction to her son's revelations, and the development of their relationship, from mother and child to mother and adult. What made it difficult for me to properly get into the book was the fact that the author this time round spend much more time dwelling on archaeological details. Fascinating for some, unfortunately not so much for me. I found myself distracted from what I considered the more important parts of the story.Product details
